Iran, Syria sign defense cooperation document
The defense ministries of Iran and Syria signed a document on mutual defense cooperation in the presence of the two countries' defense ministers in Damascus Sunday night.
The document was signed by Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier General Amir Hatami and his Syrian counterpart General Ali Ayoub after their negotiations on issues of mutual interest in the Syrian capital city.
In a short speech, Hatami referring to the strategic relations between Tehran and Damascus, said Syria has left behind the war stage and entered the reconstruction era.
The Syrian minister, for his part, said his country has attained great victories over the terrorist organizations thanks to the support and cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During his talks with Hatami, Ayoub said through cooperation and participation of resistance axis, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran, Syria could finally win the war against terrorism after about eight years.
Lieutenant General Ayoub reminded that without Iranian helps Syria could not win the war against terrorists, and added that Iran-Syria bilateral relationship is extensive and concentrated and both states are using each other experiences.
Brigadier General Amir Hatami at the head of delegation arrived in Damascus on Sunday morning for a 2-day visit.
