Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Iran’s capital Tehran on Monday night for an official visit.

Heading a high-ranking delegation of political and economic officials, the Turkish president is on a two-day visit to Iran upon an invitation by President Ebrahim Raisi.

Raisi will officially welcome his Turkish counterpart at the Sa’adbad Palace on Tuesday when the two will attend a meeting of the Iran-Turkey Cooperation Council.

The two presidents along with their Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who will arrive in Tehran on Tuesday, are scheduled to hold talks on the crisis in Syria.

The talks will take place within the framework of the Astana peace process which Tehran, Ankara and Moscow initiated in 2017, aiming to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
