Former Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan Fada-Hossein Maleki said all political and ethnic movements in Afghanistan must attend in intra-Afghan dialogue in China.

In an interview with ILNA news agency, he said that China is seeking to continue its confrontation with the US in Afghanistan, and adding "The only ambiguity about the inter-Afghani summit in China is that whether all political and ethnic groups in Afghanistan are participating in this meeting or not."

"If all Afghan political and ethnic groups will not participate in this meeting, China summit would not have any result at the end," The former ambassador underlined.

"I think the current Afghan government needs to be supported to maintain its legitimacy."

The so-called intra-Afghan dialogue is aimed at reconciliation between Afghanistan’s warring parties and has been running parallel to the talks between the insurgents and the United States.

China is organizing talks among Afghanistan’s rival factions as part of efforts to end years of war after negotiations between the Taliban and the United States on the withdrawal of U.S. forces broke down, Afghan officials said on Wednesday.

The talks planned for Oct. 28 and 29 will be the first meeting between Taliban and prominent Afghans from Kabul since a July round of talks held in Doha, the capital of the Middle Eastern State of Qatar, where the Taliban maintain a political office.
