Paris supports the normalization of relations between Yerevan and Baku
French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed his readiness to support the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan.
During his conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed his readiness to support the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan, the Elysee Palace reported on Saturday.
A statement issued by the palace stated that the French President had a phone call with his Azerbaijani counterpart, "in which Macron affirmed France's full readiness to support the process of normalizing relations between the two countries (Azerbaijan and Armenia) and achieve a political settlement in the region, which will allow peace."
The statement added that Macron also welcomed the impact of the European Union's civilian mission on stabilizing the situation on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
