The former Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan has said that Europe could almost manage the food and energy crises emanating from the Ukraine war.

Afshar Solymani said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that Moscow is seeking to make powerful leverage from the crops issue.

Commenting on the reasons for the suspension of Russia’s cooperation for exporting cereals and oil seeds, the expert said that the Europeans could almost manage the food crises.

He also emphasized that finally, Moscow may be able to overshadow the public opinion of some countries by suspending its participation in grain exports and linking it to the military conflicts in southern Ukraine, but the fact is that the U.S. and Europe themselves are producers of grains and some oilseeds and that they do not need these shipments.

For this reason, the continuation of this process may be detrimental to Russia and Putin, he added.
