Sadr's failure to form government reason for lawmakers’ resignation: Iraqi expert
The reason that lawmakers loyal to Muqtada al-Sadr resigned was their leader's failure in talks to form a new government, an Iraqi analyst said.
Commenting on the reasons behind the resignation of Iraqi lawmakers loyal to Muqtada al-Sadr, Abbas Alardavi said in remarks to ILNA that after winning the Iraqi parliament elections, Muqtada al-Sadr had announced that he is facing an equation: “forming a national-majority government consisting of the Sadr faction as the Shiite side together with the Sunni “Sovereignty” group and the Kurdistan Democratic Party or moving toward the opposition.”
Expressing that change will happen in the parliament after Iraqi lawmakers loyal to Muqtada al-Sadr have resigned, he said that the "coordination framework" will get most of the parliament seats because they have more members.
This issue will strengthen the role of the "Shiite coordination framework" group in the political scene and Parliament, he added.
