"Manouchehr Gorji", Head of Soil Society of Iran, in his interview with ILNA, regarding recent flood in East Azerbaijan and soil damages in farmland in the region told: "Even the erosion of a centimeter of soil needs years to get restored. If the soil of the provinces inflicted by the flooding were damaged severely they might need even 100 years to be revitalized."

Gorji continued: "The mud that the mudflow brought to the area, covered the field and if the amount of damages would be excessive, retrieving it is not economical and the farmers should wait for the soil to get renewed which might take over 100 years. Specialist in this field should express their confirmed opinion, after the required evaluations. But there should be measures taken for further preventing the flood from happening or don’t let farmlands to get seriously damaged."
