Iran welcomes agreement between Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia

The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomed a ceasefire agreement between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia.

The Islamic Republic of Iran said in a statement on Tuesday, “Iran welcomed the agreement between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia that led to a ceasefire in the war in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh. We hope the agreement, principles of which were also set out in the proposal of the Islamic Republic, will lead to the final arrangements for the establishment of lasting peace in the Caucasus region that includes peace and prosperity for the people in all countries and removes existing concerns”.

 “The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses on the need to respect sovereignty and territorial integrity, keep the official international borders, liberate the occupied territories, return refugees, respect the security and rights of minorities, as well as the withdrawal of all takfiri forces and foreign fighters from the region.

Once again, we announce our readiness to contribute to the establishment of lasting peace and security in the region and to participate in regional initiatives,” the statement said.

 “The Islamic Republic of Iran is also ready to contribute to the deployment of Russian peacekeepers along the contact lines in accordance with clauses 3 and 4 of the ceasefire agreement,” according to the statement.
