According to Khatibzadeh, before that, FM Zarif also had a telephone conversation with Lavrov on the subject of Karabakh, which was also a detailed conversation in which Iran continues to pursue its policies. Prior to that, he had talks with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman added that "I would like to reiterate that Iran is examining the war on the northwestern border of Iran with sensitivity and in close contact with all parties. From day one, Iran announced to all parties that there was no military way to resolve the conflict. While emphasizing respect for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, as well as the withdrawal of troops from the occupied cities".
"We emphasize the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities. The Islamic Republic of Iran has also prepared a plan, which has been prepared in detail in the same framework, which will be followed up in consultation with both parties, and our neighbors," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman added.
"We hope that both sides will avoid further war and violence. Iran cannot tolerate conflict on its borders, especially aggression on its own soil," he noted.
