Iran-Russia relations on a moving path
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said in a meeting with the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Viktorovich Volodin that Iran-Russia relations were developing and despite the US pressure on the region and especially Iran, the two countries will further develop their relations in spite of the desire of the White House.
Emphasizing that Iran is not interested in spreading tensions in the region, Hassan Rouhani added: "The stability of the region is important to us and to Russia and, as in the past, we are ready to further cooperation and consult."
The president also expressed hope that any agreement between Iran and Russia on a joint venture would be implemented as soon as possible.
Rouhani noted that the trilateral relations between Iran, Russia and China and holding a joint military exercise in the Oman Sea means that the three countries are determined to have closer relations.
The President considered relations with the Eurasian countries very important for Iran and added: "We are witnessing the beginning of trade relations with Eurasian countries and the Russian government has had good cooperation in this area and we want to continue this cooperation".
Rouhani also referred to the trilateral meetings of Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan in the framework of the Sochi summit, as well as the three countries Iran, Russia, and Turkey in Astana meeting to help the Syrian people and the future of Syria, and expressed hope that the summit of the three countries on the issue Syria to be held in Iran in the near future.
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Viktorovich Volodin said that the good relations between Iran and Russia were the result of the decisions of the two presidents.
