An Iranian legislator said "we must see that the message of Omani Foreign minister Yusuf bin Alawi can secure Iran and Middle East or not."

Speaking to ILNA news agency, a member of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mohammad Javad Jamali Nobandegani said that if bin Alawi carries a message for Iran, we should see that this message is based on the security of the region and the Islamic Republic or not.

The foreign minister of Oman has arrived in Tehran for talks with Iranian officials, in a visit that comes amid mounting tensions in the Persian Gulf between the United States and Iran.

"Oman is one of our neighboring countries and is trying to gains other countries confidence."

He added that Undoubtedly, Oman has good relations with other countries, and the reason for the bin Alawi's trip, apart from regional relations and bilateral discussions, can be to bring the message from the European countries.

Member of Iran parliament added "Those who close to U.S president are looking for a war with Iran."

The visit was conducted in the framework of bilateral relations and continuous consultations of the two countries with the aim of exchanging views on recent regional developments, bilateral relations and international issues.

Friction has been rising since Washington unilaterally withdrew from a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, and reimposed punishing sanctions on Tehran.

In a statement on Sunday, the Omani foreign ministry urged Iran to release the British-flagged Stena Impero oil tanker, which Tehran captured in the Strait of Hormuz in a move that came nearly two weeks after London seized an Iranian-flagged tanker off Gibraltar, a British overseas territory on Spain's southern coast.
