U.S. and its allies focus on building consensus on Iran

Pointing to the recent reports that claimed Iran is setting up a network of terror in Africa, he added, one of their methods is media propaganda against Tehran and some European and Arab media charge Iran with a specific line-up.

Recently a British newspaper "Daily Telegraph" published an article and claimed that Iran is setting up a network of terror cells in Africa to attack US. According to this reports, the aim of the new terror cell is to target US and other Western military bases on the continent, as well as embassies and officials.

Daily Telegraph added that intelligence officials say Iran has been working on the new terror network for the past three years since signing the nuclear deal on freezing its uranium enrichment activities with the US and other major world powers in 2015.

Iranian analyst said one of the reasons for recent accusations is the interest of the people of African countries (especially North Africa) to Iran and the Islamic Republic's discourse.

“US working on contingency plans and broadening international support for standoff and now these accusations are about set up terror cell in Africa and countries like Sudan, Ghana and Niger,” Sadr al-Hosseini underlined. “Undoubtedly, not only Iran, but also any country never confirm terror and terrorism.”

In 2016, Iran’s former defense minister, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, visited South Africa where he signed a memorandum of understanding to boost military interaction between the two countries.

The MoU entails programs to ensure regional and international peace, stability and security, as well as efforts for decisive fight against terrorism. The document is also aimed at promoting mutual cooperation on maritime security, training courses, and exchange of experience in the battle against organized crimes.
