British ambassador to Tehran summoned by Iranian FM
Prior to false statements by British foreign secretary in blind compliance with American officials in pinning the blame of the oil tankers’ explosion on Iran, the British envoy to Iran was summoned by the Iranian foreign ministry.
The Iranian diplomats on Saturday voiced their protest to Rob Macaire over London’s backing of Washington’s claims that Tehran was behind the explosions on oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman earlier this week, RT reported.
The ambassador was told that the UK’s anti-Iranian stance was “unacceptable” and that the British “follow-up policy,” which sees it agreeing with everything the US says without asking for proof, must cease.
Iran's diplomatic mission at the United Nations has categorically rejected a US claim about an attack on two oil tankers in the Sea of Oman, forthrightly condemning the unsubstantiated US accusations in the strongest possible terms.
Siding with the US, Britain falsely blamed Iran and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Friday for attacks on tankers in the Gulf of Oman, claiming no other state or non-state actor could have been responsible.
On Thursday, two oil tankers linked to Japan and Norway were rocked by explosions near the coast of Oman. Iran said it had rescued 44 sailors from the distressed vessels and called the incident “suspicious,” while insisting that it had nothing to do with the blasts.
