Iranians with dual nationality can visit Iran unworriedly; Iran’s Ambassador
Iran’s Ambassador to London Hamid Baeidinejad said on Friday that the British-Iranian nationals can visit Iran without concern, if they do not collect information for intelligence services.
He made the remarks in reaction to a warning by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office, adding that thousands of Iranians with dual nationalities as well as the Iranians working in Britain embark on a journey to Iran every day.
“Both the Iranians with dual nationalities as well as the Iranians working in Britain are respected as Iranian citizens and their visits to the country are welcomed,” he said.
Baeidinejad gave the message immediately after British Foreign and Commonwealth Office issued the warning about the Iranian-British nationals' visit to the country.
The statement added that the office recommends the British-Iranian nationals not to make visits to Iran and British citizens should take care of trips to the country.
The statement was issued in reaction to Iran’s recent ruling to imprison a British spy.
Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Jeremy Hunt has alleged that dual nationals face mistreatment on their visit to Iran.
This is the second time that the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office warns on dual nationals’ trip to Iran.
