Iran not to compromise on defense capabilities
Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani underlined that the US pressures are not able to force Tehran into talks and compromise on its defense and missile capabilities.
"We have (earlier) said about the missile issue that we will not compromise at all about our country's defense issues and will not allow others to interfere in it," Shamkhani said on Monday.
He, meantime, reminded that Iran's missile capability is "defensive and deterrent".
Shamkhani referred to the US President Donald Trump's economic pressures against Iran with the aim of forcing the country to accept Washington's irrational and hegemonic demands, and said, "We will not compromise our honor under Trump's bullying. This is the clear message of the Iranian government to the White House; sanctions will no way serve as an instrument to enforce renegotiations on issues already agreed upon."
In relevant remarks earlier this month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined the US failure in its policies against Iran and the region, stressing that Tehran would continue its path irrespective of Washington's pressures.
"The US wants to build a wall around Iran but Iran will not be isolated, and the world states, even the US allies and the EU, condemn the US. They want us to make political concessions in our missile program …(but) the country will not surrender and we should show the US to choose the right path," President Rouhani said, addressing officials at the Northern province of Golestan.
He referred to the US failures in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Palestine, and said, "They want to set Iran aside and take our position themselves but they will not succeed."
"The US wants us not to be among the influential countries and they have tested this in several countries, including Yemen" but they failed.
