Iran, Russia, Turkey to hold Syria summit in Moscow: Iranian diplomat
The presidents of Iran, Russia, and Turkey will soon meet in Moscow for their 4th tripartite summit on seeking to end the conflict in Syria, senior Aide to the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari said on Wednesday.
Senior Aide to the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari who has traveled to Moscow to take part in consultations with Russian representatives, said that Moscow will soon host the trilateral summit but no date has been set yet.
According to Iran Press, Jaberi Ansari added that Iran intends to continue close cooperation with Russia and Turkey in Syria as these countries are determined to continue facilitating the peace process in Syria.
Senior Aide to the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari has arrived to Moscow to take part in consultations with Russian representatives on a two-day visit.
Ansari deals with the Syrian issue in the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and represents Tehran at high-level meetings on Syria in Astana.
The presidents of Iran, Russia, and Turkey have previously held summits in the Russian resort city of Sochi, the Turkish capital Ankara and the Iranian capital Tehran.
Iran, alongside Russia and Turkey, is a guarantor of the ceasefire regime in Syria. The three guarantor states initiated the Astana Process on January 23, 2017, establishing de-escalation zones in an effort to restore calm in the region and improve the humanitarian situation in war-torn Syria.
The 4th tripartite summit will be held as US president Donald Trump in a shock announcement recently said he was pulling out some 2,000 American forces from Syria.
