Ways to stabilize Syria situation to be discussed in Tehran
The Kremlin Palace in a statement posted on its website announced that during the tripartite summit meet of Iran, Russia and Turkey in Tehran, ways of improving and stabilizing situation in Syria will be discussed.
On September 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin will make a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the third trilateral meeting of the heads of state – guarantors of the Astana process for facilitating the Syrian peace settlement, the statement said.
It said the talks with the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani and the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will concern further joint efforts to ensure long-term stabilization of the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic.
In particular, it said, the leaders will discuss a package of additional measures aimed at totally eradicating the hotbed of international terrorism, as well as facilitating political settlement and resolving humanitarian issues, including the creation of conditions for the repatriation of refugees and internally displaced persons.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow Monday that the Syria issue and the liberation of Syrian province of Idelb from terrorists would be the pivot of Tehran summit.
