Iranian official holds talks with UN’s de Mistura
The senior advisor to Iran’s foreign minister in political affairs and the country’s top negotiator for Astana process Hossein Jaberi Ansari met with visiting UN’s special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.
Stressing on Tehran’s steady and constructive position toward resolving the Syria’s crisis, Jaberi Ansari presented to de Mistura a set of Iran’s initiatives and proposals determined for the beginning of the work and ensuring the success of the Syrian constitution committee.
The UN’s special envoy, for his part, welcomed the proposals and presented its points of view on the matter as he urged the need for resumption of bilateral and multilateral consultations between the three guarantor countries of Astana (Iran- Turkey- Russia), Syria’s government and its opposition and the United Nations for the formation and activity of the Syrian constitution committee.
The two sides also agreed to hold a new round of consultations on the Syrian constitution committee between the representatives of the three guarantor countries and the UN’s special envoy for Syria on June 18th and 19th in Geneva.
