US, French foreign ministers discuss Iran on phone
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian discussed Iran’s regional activities in a telephone conversation on Wednesday.
Spokesman for US Department of State Heather Nauert added that during the phone conversation, both sides spoke about the next measures to be taken in the face of Iran’s destabilizing activities in the region.
US Department of State has not yet released details of the talks.
Last Monday, Pompeo announced US new strategy to counter Iran after its withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
He also said that US is also seeking to mount further financial pressure on Iran in a bid to contain its clout in the region and block its missile and nuclear program.
