Zarif back home from tripartite meeting in Turkey
Foreign Minister of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif returned home from his one-day visit to Turkey Sunday night at the end of a trilateral meeting with his Russian and Turkish counterparts on Syria.
The meeting was held in Antalya with Sergei Lavrov from Russia and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu of Turkey.
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agemcy at the end of the meeting, Zarif said the three foreign ministers followed up topics discussed in last Syrian peace talks in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Representatives of Iran, Russia and Turkey as well as Syrian government and Syrian opponents have so far organized seven rounds of talks to address Syrian crisis. The talks have led to establishment of a ceasefire in the war-torn country.
Iran, Russia and Turkey are the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria.
Prior to the tripartite meeting in Antalya, an expert-level meeting of the trio was held in Tehran on Saturday while the leaders of the three states are to come together in Sochi, Russia, on Wednesday.
