Iranian FM has no plan to go to Saudi Arabia
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi rejected the conjectures made by the media that the Iranian FM Zarif would visit Saudi Arabia to observe the rituals of Hajj.
After the media buzz hyped over the handshake between Saudi Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir and the Iranian top diplomat Mohhammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the OIC’s extraordinary meeting in Turkey three days ago, the conjecture was spread by by some media outlets that the Iranian FM will attend this year’s rituals of Hajj.
However, the Spokesman of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bahram Ghasemi dismissed the news and reassured that the Iranian FM has no plan and intention to attend this year’s pilgrimage of Hajj.
The warm greeting between Mr. Zarif and his Saudi counterpart after they shook hands on the sidelines of the OIC’s extraordinary meeting, surprised many reporters who were expecting a cold confrontment by the diplomats of the two countries with sour relations.
