Larijani: Iran-Azerbaijan cooperation entered new stage
Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Tuesday that Iran-Azerbaijan relations have entered new stage following a meeting between presidents of the two countries.
He made the remarks in a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ogtai Asadov on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Second Meeting of Eurasian Parliaments Speakers in Seoul.
He further noted that the two countries have suitable cooperation in the fields of energy, electricity, agriculture, customs affairs and security issues within the framework of the joint commission.
Noting that border and security cooperation between the two countries are proceeding well, Larijani said that Azerbaijan is Iran's brotherly and friendly country and that’s for the same reason that Iran has laid open the doors for cooperation.
For his part, Aasdov said that Iran and Azerbaijan are supporting each other’s stances in international circles.
Level of bilateral ties is high and reciprocal parliamentary visits can give impetus to the two countries’ ties, he said.
Azeri parliament speaker also hailed joint investment as suitable move.
Larijani arrived in Seoul on Monday to attend the Second Meeting of Eurasian Parliament Speakers.
First Meeting of Eurasian Parliament Speakers was held in Moscow last year with parliamentary officials of 20 countries in attendance.
