Iran presidential election held in legal, healthy way
Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli said on Monday that the May 19 elections were in a totally legal way and in a secure and healthy atmosphere with a massive turnout.
Addressing a meeting of governors general around the country attended by Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, Rahmani Fazli said after the end of electoral competitions, friendship, interaction and empathy will prevail among all the executive institutes in line with rendering service to the people.
The minister appreciated holding the elections in a glorious way, saying it will hopefully be a source of blessing for the country.
“The elections increased our responsibilities against the nation,” he added.
The 12th presidential elections and fifth city and village council elections as well as parliamentary by-elections were held simultaneously across the country on May 19. Rouhani won the presidential elections with over 23.4 million (57%) votes and reformist candidates won the municipal elections in most of the Iranian megacities including the capital Tehran.
