Iran wants to restructure its foreign ministry
The deputy chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said the structure of the Foreign Ministry would be modified in the near future to help realize the objectives of Resistance Economy.
Resistance Economy is a set of principles recommended by the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei to boost domestic production, improve productivity and wean the country off oil revenues.
In a Saturday interview, Abolfazl Hassan Beigi said “measures should be taken both at home and abroad” to implement the major economic plan.
He said meetings were held recently between the ministry officials and members of the commission to that end.
In the meetings, it was decided that the diplomatic apparatus also help boost the economy and foreign trade and therefore needs to undergo change based on the declared objectives of the Islamic Republic, the MP said.
Two economic desks will be set up at the ministry and one will be established in each Iranian mission overseas, he said.
