3 nuclear projects to go on steam next week; Akbar Salehi

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of signing an agreement with visiting Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen, he said the country’s achievements in the sector registered fifty percent growth last year as compared with the corresponding period the year before.

“I will not talk about the projects which are to be unveiled on Sunday,' he said, adding, 'These projects will be in the provinces of Ghazvin, Albourz and Yazd and will be inaugurated by President Hassan Rouhani through video conference.'

In addition to these inauguration, there will be set up an exclusive exhibition on the activities of the Nuclear Energy Organization last year.

On the allegations leveled by the US president on Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers, he said that during nuclear talks with world powers some in the US were against such negotiations and Trump for many times had disagreed with the same and even once very roughly said that he would put it aside, but realities on the ground is something else.

The nuclear deal is not between Iran and the US, but it is an international agreement and one single country cannot ignore it but it can creates problems but the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for all scenarios and we hope such a situation will never be created, Salehi said.

Implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will be to the benefit of the international community and there is no need a deal which meets the interests of all to be abolished, Salehi said, adding that we advise them to mull the consequences of their measures.

There is no need to mention that we have adopted a very rational approach and never take action on sentiments, but will pursue path of rationality instead, he underlined.

“We want the JCPOA to remain untouched,” he said.

On sales of heavy water, he said we have had a number of negotiations with European companies and they have informed that they required a remarkable volume of Iran’s heavy water and the European Union should be given their license to purchase the heavy water.

'It was agreed that Iran to import some 900 tons of uranium in a three-year long from Kazakhstan, but the deal was rejected by England on the last spot, we will follow it up and regard it as among our legitimate demands,' he said.

It is not possible that five countries to agree on something, but on the last second only one country to oppose it and we think it is not suitable and are determined to follow it up, he said.

“I do not want to express that whether this action is violation of the JCPOA or not, but it should be examined in the special committee in charge of sound implementation of the JCOPA and its legal procedures should be assessed and if they say that it will be among violation of the JCPOA, we will take proper action,” Salehi said.

Anyway, this is regarded as breaking one’s promise as five countries have agreed on it and only Britain changed its minds on the last spots and created such problem, he said.
