Parliament agrees to step up efforts in countering election fraud
Iran parliament votes to address Guardian Council's objections and boosting efforts in countering fraud in election
During a parliamentary session, in an attempt to address “Guardian Council of the Constitution” objections, the parliament have agreed on eliminating clause B of fifth article of amendments for Islamic Councils’ Elections, Tasks and Organizations Act and the elections of the Mayors.
According to the eliminated article, selling and buying votes are deemed fraud and new attempts will boost the countering measures by considering the candidate’s "total votes throughout the ballots", spoiled and invalid.
From 237 parliament members, about 151 representatives, agreed to the proposed amendments, which has led to the elimination of the article.
