Election campaigns should avoid populistic promises; former Parliament Member tells ILNA
Iran's 6th Parliament Member called for avoiding populistic campaign promises.
"Jalal Jalalizadeh", Iran’s 6th Parliament representative, in an interview with ILNA regarding types of performance that political movements should undertake in upcoming election for having maximal participation, told that before everything they should layout their reasons for extensive participation on the ballot boxes.
"Through such discussion they can come up with capable and trustworthy candidates" he emphasized.
According to Jalalizadeh, political movements should put efforts in holding a real election based on citizens’ vote and try to avoid the creation of populistic and illusional election mood.
Telling that the election should move toward, party affiliated and partisan political races, he emphasized that partisan elections would let citizens know who to vote for and who’s responsible for candidacies.
Former Parliament Member added that City Council elections can be a significant experience in establishing and maintaining democratizing processes in the country.
"Every political movements and partyies should try hard to prepare the ground for holding partisan elections" he stressed.
Meanwhile regarding the likelihood of conservative’s plan in introducing multiple candidates in upcoming presidential election for further putting pressure on president "Hassan Rouhani" in presidential debates, Iran’s 6th Parliament’s deputy chairman, "Mohammad Reza Khatami", told ILNA that Rouhani has so far exhibited his abilities in standing against them single handedly.
"I, personally, will do whatever I can, to ensure his triumph in the upcoming election and winning the race. Whether you face a single or multiple persons, makes no difference, if you have something to say" he indicated.
