Registries for upcoming election rises threefold; Head of Iran's Election Office
Head of Iran's Election Office told the number of those who register to run for City and Village Council election has raised threefold.
Visiting City and Village Council election registration office and among the reporters, “Ali Asghar Ahmadi”, Head of Iran’s Election Office announced, there was a threefold raise in the number of registries for the race, in comparison to preceding years.
“Up until yesterday, 58 thousands and 930 persons have registered” he emphasized.
He also warned about the submission of legal clearance certificates, which he deemed necessary for those who want to run for the office.
Regarding the latest attemps in digitalization of the election and holding electronic voting in both presedential and city council elections, Ahmadi told that due to insufficiency in provision of necessary equipment, the plan has not been able to fully cover all cities that are going to hold the election and considering the one-choice ballots of presidential election, the votes are going to be counted by hand.
