Iran’s deal is 'highly technical deal'; John Kerry
US Secretary of State John Kerry has described the July 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as a 'highly technical deal' requiring 'diligent efforts by all participants.'
In a statement released on Jan 16 on the one-year anniversary of implementation day of the JCPOA, Kerry said there is no doubt that the deal is working.
US Secretary of State also claimed that 'all' participants are keeping their commitments based on the landmark nuclear deal without referring to the cases of US lack of commitment.
Two major examples of the US unfaithfulness to the JCPOA are opposition to Russia’s decision to sell S-300 defensive missile system to Iran arguing that it was in contradiction with the nuclear deal and also renewing the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA) that will be the extension of a law which was first adopted in 1996 to penalize investment in energy industry in Iran.
Kerry also noted the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had confirmed that Iran has been faithful to its commitments based on the JCPOA in the Fordo nuclear site in central Iran.
US Secretary of State also asserted that his country and its partners have also fully implemented their commitments to lift nuclear-related sanctions, saying that the US will continue to uphold its commitments as long as Iran continues to abide by the deal.
This is while the United Sataes has done everything in its power to prevent international financial institutes and banks to have normal trancactions with Iran.
Kerry added, 'It (JCPOA) was endorsed unanimously by the United Nations Security Council and earned the support of more than 100 countries across the globe.'
