Iran's Foreign Ministry in a statement released on Wednesday called for a strong support of the Palestinian people and the groups fighting the Zionist regime.

The statement is released to mark the Quds Day event, due to be taken place on July 1 this year.

The annual event held on the last Friday of Ramadan was initiated by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1979 to express support for the Palestinians and oppose Zionism and Israel’s control over Quds.

in its statement, the Foreign Ministry urges an integrated and consolidated resistance against the Zionist regime.

The late Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini and Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei have always underlined opposing the idea of the enemies trying to abandon the Palestinian Issue, it reads.

This is while, the Palestinian issue tends to be a key issue in the region and across the Islamic world, it says.

Efforts by the Zionist regime to change the historical identity of Quds, the regime's construction of new settlements, its raids against the Al-Aqsa Mosque, its measures to limit the Palestinians' access to their holy sites and preventing Palestinian prayers from entering these holy sites, have created dire conditions for the Palestinian people, says the statement.

It further says that forcing the Palestinians to leave their lands and migrate to other places, killing children and innocent women and men, torturing the prisoners, imposing long-term blockades and closing the crossings, stopping food and drug supplies, imprisoning the Palestinian civilians and fighters are just parts of the atrocities committed by the Zionist regime.

The Gaza strip is on the verge of a big human catastrophe, the Foreign Ministry statement notes.

It encourages global mobilization against the Zionist regime in support of the oppressed people of Palestine.

The Islamic Ummah should avoid normalization of ties with the Zionist regime and prevent realization of political initiations that tend to benefit the Quds occupiers, the statement says.

The Zionist regime is exploiting terrorist actions conducted by the Takfiri groups, as what the terrorists are doing is damaging peace and security of the Islamic and Arab countries, and this should be brought to the attention of the global public opinion, it further says.
