Iraq’s Parliament Speaker Felicitates Larijani on Reelection
The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim Jabouri on Tuesday congratulated his Iranian counterpart Ali Larijani on his reelection as speaker of Iran’s new parliament.
In a phone conversation on Tuesday, Jabouri pointed to the friendly ties between the two neighboring countries and underlined the necessity for closer interaction between the two countries’ parliaments.
He further urged consultation on bilateral and regional issues, including campaign against terrorism.
He expressed the hope that the ties between the two sides would further expand during era of Iran’s new parliament.
Larijani, for his part, expressed the confidence that bilateral relations would expand in new parliament and cooperation on the regional and international circled would boost after formations of inter-parliamentary as well as friendship groups.
Larijani, as the long-serving speaker of the Iranian parliament, was chosen again by the lawmakers as the speaker of the 10th parliament on Tuesday.
In a poll at the open session of the parliament on Tuesday morning, Larijani secured 237 out of 276 votes.
