Ankara is interested in expansion of ties with Iran; Turkish elected premier
Ankara is interested in expansion of ties with Iran in all fields including tourism, trade, energy and transportation, the newly-elected head of Turkey's ruling AK Party Binali Yildirim said on Tuesday.
peaking in Turkey's parliament, he said that his cabinet will pursue the execution of previous agreements with Iran and will try for development of ongoing relation.
Binali Yildirim, who was Turkish transport minister, was unanimously elected on Sunday as the new leader of the ruling AK party and therefore the prime minister.
Both Iran and Turkey are influential countries in the region, and their closer cooperation would be crucial to end the regional crises.
Tehran and Ankara have been increasing their ties in various fields in the last two decades. Iran is a main energy supplier to Turkey and Ankara has made huge investments in Iran.
Iran is a main destination of Turkish goods and Turkey is among the top destinations of Iranian tourists and traders.
