Ill-intentioned neighbors want collapse of Iran: Professor
A professor at Georgetown University has said that the unrest in Iran has emboldened its ill-intentioned neighbors to fulfill their wishes for the collapse of Iran.
Shirin Hunter said that the western countries have concluded that containing Iran and encouraging it to reconsider its regional and international policies is not possible through talks and deals.
The unrest in Iran also encouraged the European countries to show more strictness toward Iran, he noted.
He added that if the tensions do not de-escalate, the relations will be worse, and even a reduction of political relations will be possible.
“Currently, the unrest in Iran has emboldened the ill-intentioned neighbors to fulfill their wishes for the collapse of Iran. Azerbaijan also wants to implement its pan-Turkism goals at the urging of Israel and Turkey. Iran's neighbors, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE, also want Iran to disintegrate and become another Afghanistan,” she emphasized.
