Reviving Iran deal has become very difficult: Expert
An expert on international relations has explained a number of possible scenarios laying ahead of the JCPOA.
Korosh Ahmadi said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that “The reality is that reviving the Iran 2015 nuclear deal has become very difficult.”
It seems that the existing deal doesn’t serve the interests of the country from the authorities' point of view, he said.
He noted that the efforts to build a consensus against Iran started a long time ago and the developments related to Ukraine only exacerbated it.
He explained the scenarios lying ahead of the Iran deal and said that the U.S. will have two choices if the current deadlock continues.
The first scenario is the continuation of the current stagnation and uncertainty, and the other is the attempt to refer the issue to the UN Security Council at the September meeting of the Agency's Board of Governors, he added.
What path the U.S. will take will depend on several factors, he said, adding that "the first is the developments of the war in Ukraine and how Iran deals with this war, the other is the developments in the JCPOA, the third is the interaction with the allies and the reaction of the members of the Board of Governors, and the fourth is the international atmosphere and the progress of the blame game.
