West, Zionist regime have tried to create tensions between Iran, Azerbaijan: Expert
Regional and extra-regional countries have been influential in the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, an expert on energy has said.
Given the role of the Republic of Azerbaijan as one of the important countries in the region and the land and sea borders we have with this country from the northwest, and considering the shared historical, cultural, and civilizational histories of Iran and Azerbaijan, the relations between the two countries are very important, but at the same time, regional and extra-regional countries have also been influential in the relations between the two countries, Mir Ghasem Momeni told ILNA.
Iran's foreign policy has always been based on peace, but some European countries, America, and the Zionist regime have tried to create tensions in the relations between the two countries by exerting influence and using political and regional potentials, he added.
In this country, we have a commercial, cultural and political competitor called Turkey, which tried to distance Azerbaijan from Iran with ethnic slogans, he said, adding that ”the Zionist regime also tried to develop its relations with the promise of the military, agricultural and security assistance. America and Europe because of oil and the geopolitical role of this country, tried to limit the sphere of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan. This shows that many countries and political movements do not want the development of relations between the two countries despite the potential and actual commonalities.”
