Revival of JCPOA accelerates de-escalation between Iran, Saudi Arabia: Expert
An expert on the U.S. has said that the revival of the JCPOA is a necessary move because there isn’t an option better than this for Iran to reduce tensions with Arab countries and to neutralize Israel’s Iranophobia project.
Commenting on the upcoming visit of the president of the U.S. to the region, Morteza Makki told ILNA that Biden’s trip to Saudi Arabia is more important than his trip to Israel.
Given the developments that have occurred in the region and the world, Biden is trying to make Saudi Arabia an ally and a strategic partner to the U.S., he added.
He said that now the Iran-Saudi talks are overshadowed by the JCPOA, which means that if the Iran deal is revived, de-escalation between Tehran and Riyadh would speed up, and if the JCPOA isn’t implemented, that will affect the process of the two countries' negotiations.
Underlining that the U.S. is seeking a power balance in the Middle East, he said that Iran’s entering the energy markets and decreasing tensions with Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region would deprive Israel of many opportunities to expand its Iranophobic policy.
I believe that the revival of the JCPOA is a necessary move, he said, adding that there isn’t an option better than this for Iran to reduce tensions with the Arab countries and to foil Israel’s Iranophobia project.
