republicans victory in 2022 elections has negative effect on JCPOA:

The former professor at the University of Columbia, Robert Shapiro, told in an exclusive interview with ILNA that "The Biden administration will push hard on reviving the JCPOA.  It will be negatively affected to the extent that anything included in it requires congressional approval and the Democrats no longer control Congress."

You can read the full interview with Robert Shapiro regarding the midterm elections in the United States, the JCPOA, and the Ukraine war.

1. Some believe that republicans will win at least one of the two houses in the midterm election. How accurate do you think this statement is?

This is reasonable because the party holding the White House almost always loses seats in the midterm election in the House of Representatives.  And now with all the bad news about the economy and Covid and prices, this looks very bad for the Democrats. The Senate is a different story since the results can be race/state-specific. The other factor in the Republican's favor is that they have already seen a high turnout in the primary elections compared to Democrats.

2. Which factors will influence the potential victory of republicans in the upcoming midterm election?

The economy, the Covid situation, and what is happening in Ukraine.  Also, they need to make sure their supporters are mobilized to vote. It also depends on how the Democrats do in getting out their voters.

3. How plausible do you consider this claim that republicans are trying to keep their plans unclear on purpose?

That is plausible since they want to avoid proposing anything that faces serious opposition.  On the other hand, the Republicans really do not have any plans and are happy to keep things unchanged.

4. In the event of republican victory in 2022 elections, what do you think will happen to JCPOA?

The Biden administration will push hard on this.  It will be negatively affected to the extent that anything included in it requires congressional approval and the Democrats no longer control Congress.

5. What is the effect of republican victory on the Russia-Ukraine War?

There should be largely no effect there since the US actions have bipartisan support  -- if Republicans are elected to Congress that oppose current policies, it does not look like they would be sufficient in number to make a difference.  It is possible Republicans might resist very large-scale spending on the war.
