Window of reviving Iran deal closing: Expert
Emphasizing that the Biden administration doesn’t have the former optimism on the revival of the 2015 Iran deal, Bigdeli said that it seems that Biden and his foreign policy team have pulled back from reviving the JCPOA on the eve of the upcoming congressional elections.
Evaluating Iran’s move in seizing two Greek oil tankers in response to the seizure of an Iranian tanker in Greek waters at the request of the United States, the expert on international issues told ILNA that this was possible because the U.S. wanted to warn Iran that it could block Iran’s oil export if it wants.
He said Iran's reciprocal move has complicated the situation, adding that “hopes for an opening in the Vienna talks have decreased by the day and it is not clear what will happen to this deal.
“It seems that Biden and his foreign policy team have pulled back from reviving the JCPOA on the eve of the upcoming congressional elections, and they are not as optimistic today as they were before,” he noted.
He said that talks between Iran and Saudi Arabia will not reach any result. “Iran should reconsider its worldview,” he noted.
