FM underlines importance of economic diplomacy in Iran’s foreign policy

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian pointed to the importance of economic diplomacy in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and elaborated on some of its priority areas.

Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with the President of the World Economic Forum Børge Brende.

Pointing to the importance of economic diplomacy in the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, he elaborated on some of its priority areas.

He reminded Iran’s excellent capacities in the fields of regional and international transportation and transit, as well as the oil and gas industry, and the expansion of cooperation and trade with neighboring countries as a priority of the Islamic Republic of Iran's neighborhood policy.

He stressed the necessities of rebuilding the world economy after Corona and termed the initiative of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the summit of gas exporting countries in Qatar entitled "Gas for the reconstruction of the world economy in the post-Corona period" in this regard.

He offered Iran's readiness to work with the World Economic Forum to identify the potential of this initiative.

Meanwhile, Brende welcomed Iran's economic diplomacy, especially the expansion of relations with its neighbors.

He also reminded the interest of the officials of the Persian Gulf countries in the Davos 2022 to expand economic cooperation with Iran.

He expressed hope that the talks between Iran and the world powers with the aim of reviving JCPOA would achieve the desired result and pave the way for using Iran's capabilities in reviving the regional and world economy more than before.
