JCPOA's current uncertainties stem from Iran-U.S indirect talks: Expert
An expert on the region said that using the parties to the Iran nuclear deal as mediators for indirect negotiations between Iran and the U.S may lead to the failure of the negotiations.
Morteza Makki, an expert on the region, said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that the long process of reviving the Iran deal resulted in highlighting the marginal issues instead of the substantial ones.
He said, “Maybe if bilateral meetings had been held between Iran and the U.S, the revival of the Iran nuclear deal would have been easier.”
“Current circumstances in the JCPOA are the result of the decision to use the JCPOA parties and Europe as mediators and trying to lift sanctions through indirect negotiations,” he added
“Today, some experts talk about the possibility of failure of the negotiations which is definitely not good news for the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he said.
