Ukraine war impacted Iran talks by shifting U.S attention: Professor
A professor at UMass Boston said that the Ukraine war had an impact on the Vienna talks because the U.S. attention shifted to Ukraine.
The professor at UMass Boston, Darren Kew, said in an exclusive interview with ILNA that the Biden Administration has a real interest in keeping the nuclear deal with Iran alive.
“I don't think that the US will agree to just any deal -- it will need to be strong enough to convince senators,” he said, “The deal also has to be strong enough to remove criticism of the Republicans in the U.S.”
He continued that the Ukraine war had an impact on the Vienna talks because the U.S. attention shifted to Ukraine.
“I hope that momentum and negotiations will continue despite delays and that Tehran and Washington move toward normalizing relations between the two countries so that we will see a reduction of tensions,” he concluded.
