Iran welcomes regional cooperation: FM
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always welcomed regional cooperation and joint working meetings aiming to develop relations, especially in the Caspian Sea.
Amir Abdollahian made the remarks in a phone call with his Turkmen counterpart Raşit Meredow.
Referring to development in friendly relations and the two countries’ progress, he emphasized Iran’s positive view on the expanding all-out relations, especially increasing cooperation between the Caspian Sea states.
Meanwhile, Meredow congratulated on the holy month of Ramadan and exchanged views on some bilateral and international issues of mutual interest, especially developing cooperation in the Caspian Sea.
He referred to the progress made at the expert level aiming to prepare a draft of cooperation in the Caspian Sea, scientific fields, search and rescue operations, in the framework of combating the spread of narcotics in the Caspian Sea, as well as reinforcing cooperation between the Caspian Sea states.
He proposed a joint meeting between the foreign ministers of the five Caspian littoral states to expand multilateral cooperation and provide a joint meeting at the level of heads of these states.
