Tehran due to host Astana Summit in February or March
Ali Asghar Khaji, a special aide to Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian, said on Wednesday that Iran, Russia, and Turkey have agreed about Tehran hosting the next round of the Astana Summit.
He said that the Summit will be held in February or March 2022 depending on COVID-19 conditions.
Khaji also said that the Summit will be preceded by a foreign ministerial meeting which will be held in January or February.
He added that the next round of the international Astana Peace Talks will be held within a few weeks after the Summit in Tehran.
The 17th round of the Astana Peace Talks on Syria was held on Tuesday with the participation of delegations from Iran, Russia, Turkey, Syria, and militants, as well as Lebanon and Iraq as observers in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan.
