Inclusive govt key solution to Afghanistan crisis: Iran FM

Visiting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian while expressing concern on the situation of Afghanistan says the inclusive government in the neighboring state containing all ethnic groups is the solution to the Afghanistan crisis.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA soon after his arrival in Pakistan early Sunday to attend the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Coopeation (OIC), Amirabdollahian said that main objective of the conference is to review the situation in Afghanistan on which Tehran has concerns.

He said that the OIC should be able to send a unanimous message to the international community especially the interim Afghan administration to form an inclusive government having all ethnic groups which he believed is the only solution to Afghan crisis.

He said the increase in terrorism in Afghanistan and the influx of refugees are main concerns of the Islamic Republic of Iran in recent months and the only solution to these problems is the formulation of inclusive government in the neighboring state.

Referring to the close and fraternal relations between the two friendly and neighboring countries of Iran and Pakistan, Amirabdollahian said the 13th government has a plan to boost ties with neighboring states and Pakistan has special place in Iran’s foreign policy.

He stressed that the 13th government has a clear plan and roadmap for further development of relations with friendly and brotherly country of Pakistan.

The minister added in meetings with high-ranking officials of Pakistan, including the Foreign Minister we will discuss in detail about the development of relations between the two friendly and neighboring countries.

The Iranian Foreign Minister  arrived in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, early Sunday to attend an extraordinary meeting of the OIC member states with the agenda of reviewing the situation in Afghanistan.

Amirabdollahian is scheduled to address the meeting of foreign ministers of Islamic countries, to explain the latest position of Iran on Afghanistan and developments in the region.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Iranian Foreign Minister will meet with some of his counterparts from various countries, including Pakistan.

This is the first visit of Hossein Amirabdollahian to Pakistan since assuming the charge of Foreign Minister of Iran.
