Amirabdollahian criticizes South Korea for not releasing Iran's fund
In a telephone conversation, between the Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Korea, Chung Eui-Yong, and the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hossein Amirabdollahian, the latest developments related to Iran's access to its financial resources in South Korea were discussed.
Hossein Amirabdollahian and Chung Eui-Yong shared the need for the two countries to work together to deepen bilateral cooperation, particularly as they mark the 60th anniversary next year of the establishment of their relations.
Iran's top diplomat strongly criticized the problem of issue of Tehran's frozen funds in South Korean banks.
Amirabdollahian called for the solution of the problem of Iran's access to its funds in Korea as soon as possible, in a way out of the current impasse caused by following the path drawn by the United States in order to enable the Islamic Republic of Iran to access its financial resources for purchasing basic medicines and other items.
"Unfortunately, due to the lack of attention to the issue of Iran's financial resources in Korea and the suspension of trade between the two countries and even restrictions on the process of trade in humanitarian items, the Iranian people are in a dire situation," Amirabdollahian said.
The South Korean Foreign Minister, referring to the long-standing relations between the two countries, stressed the need to solve the problems of in bilateral relation and said: "He will continue to pursue Iran's access to financial resources in South Korea."
