MPs travel to Khuzestan to assess water-related measures
Spokesman for Iran Parliament National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said that some members of the parliamentary body would pay a visit to the southeastern province to assess measures taken to solve the water problem.
Mahmoud Abbas-zadeh said that the commission decided to dispatch a team of MPs to Khuzestan Province which has recently been the scene of several demonstrations to protest a water shortage.
The MPs would assess the situation and the measure taken to solve problems related to water, Abbas-zadeh added.
They will also meet provincial officials and the people and deliver a report to the commission.
Khuzestan Province has faced water shortage in recent years and the situation has gotten worse in the past weeks, causing demonstrations in several cities of the province.
