Iran increases enrichment to 60% in two chains of new centrifuges
Iran's permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna announced on Tuesday night that 60 percent enrichment will be carried out at the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan Enrichment Complex (Natanz) in two chains of new centrifuges.
"According to the letter and information that was delivered to the International Atomic Energy Agency on Tuesday evening, 60% enrichment will be done in two chains of the new IR-4 and IR-6 centrifuges in Natanz," Kazem Gharibabadi wrote on Twitter.
Gharibabadi noted that the technical process has started and it is expected that uranium with 60% enrichment will be produced next week.
The Permanent Representative of Iran to the International Organizations based in Vienna stated that this action, which is taken in response to the recent sabotage in Natanz, has significant effects on improving the quality and quantity of radiopharmaceuticals produced by Iran's Atomic Energy Organization.
Behrouz Kamalvandi, the spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, also about the beginning of 60% enrichment in Natanz facilities, said: "By order of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran was obliged to launch a 60% uranium production line in the amount required within the framework of Article 1 of the Law on Strategic Action to Lift Sanctions and Protect the Interests of the Iranian Nation."
Under Trump's administration, the US government unilaterally withdrew from the JCPOA in defiance of international resolutions and imposed maximum pressure on Iran by imposing unprecedented sanctions, and even during the outbreak of the coronavirus, it prevented Iran from gaining access to its resources in other countries for the import of medicine and food.
Two years after the US withdrew from the JCPOA and the European parties delayed in fulfilling their obligations under the agreement, Iran began to take steps to reduce its obligations and announced that if all sanctions are lifted and the other parties fulfill their obligations, it reverses the compensatory measures.
