Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna said the continuation of maximum pressure policy had led to the advancement of the Iranian nuclear program beyond pre-JCPOA limits.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, Mikhail Ulyanov responded to a note from the Saudi media 'Arab News' which claimed that "A quick return to the JCPOA is highly popular with progressive Democrats, but if it leads to billions of dollars funneled to Iranian expansionism, Biden may soon bitterly regret adopting the strategy."

Ulyanov stated that there had been so many JCPOA opponents who were absolutely not able to offer any viable alternative to its restoration.

"A continuation of maximum pressure policy which led to the advancement of the Iranian nuclear program beyond pre-JCPOA limits and increased tension in the Persian Gulf," he noted.
