“The bilateral trade between Iran and the UAE has not changed significantly,” the chairman of Iran-UAE joint chamber of commerce Farshid Farzanegan told ILNA.

Speaking to ILNA news agency, the Iranian official said “There is no problem in transporting cargo containers, especially fruit and vegetable products and minerals, and currently only air cargo facing some challenges.”

He pointed to the return of Iranians and citizens of other countries from the United Arab Emirates and added that according to UAE Cabinet's decision all people holding any kind of UAE visas or residency will be exempted from any fines and all residency visas expiring on March 1, 2020, will be extended.

According to reports, this move is part of a series of precautionary and preventive measures to limit the negative consequences of the coronavirus outbreak on various sectors in the UAE.

“UAE Cabinet decision means that the people with a valid UAE residency will be exempted from fines for a renewable period of three months without any additional fees upon renewal," he added.

the Iranian official said "Etihad Airways recently announced that it will start flights to six cities around the world on April 5 to repatriate foreigners inside the UAE."

On Twitter, Seyed Abbas Mousavi, an Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, praised the UAE, as well as Uzbekistan and the United Nations’ children agency, UNICEF, for their recent deliveries of medical supplies.

“My country is sincerely thankful for these humanitarian efforts and will never forget the way they stood with Iran in hard times,” Mousavi wrote.
