Iran to join Eurasian Economic Union soon: Envoy

Iranian parliament and government will provide legal provisions to join the Eurasian Economic Union in the matter of months, Iran's Representative to the forum of Caspian Sea heads of chambers of commerce Hassan Qashqavi said on Monday.

Hassan Qashqavi, also Iran's ambassador to Spain, said that 800 Iranian-made goods will be included in the tariff reduction list when Iran joins EAEU, and this will be regarded a success for Iran's non-oil products to the Eurasian nations.

He also announced that Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission will convene with 300 public and private companies taking part in Tehran in the next several days.

The event will be in the interest of Iran-Russia bilateral trade, according to the Iranian official.

Qashqavi noted that the joint meeting of Chambers of Commerce would be a positive step toward the expansion of trade and economic relations among the Caspian Sea countries.

He referred to Astrakhan, Aftab, Baku, Turkmenbashi ports as major infrastructure for broadening the relations, and called for using such infrastructure to advance the economic and trade goals.

The Iranian diplomat also said that Spain's private sector is keen on investment in Iran.

An economic, business delegation attended the meeting of the Caspian Sea countries' heads of chambers of commerce in the northern Iranian province of Mazandaran.

The 18th round of the meeting was attended by more than one hundred foreign guests from different countries.
